Heart of Surfing is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2014 by Cindy and Bob Fertsch, inspired by their son Jamie and his joy in riding the waves.
What began as a local adaptive surfing program has grown into a volunteer-powered community where individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities can build confidence, discover new abilities and share meaningful experiences with family and friends.
We provide free adaptive surfing, skateboarding and scootering, roller skating, ice skating, and other inclusive recreational activities throughout South Jersey. Our trained volunteers meet every participant with patience, encouragement and respect.
Our mission is simple: create positive experiences through recreation and make belonging possible for every family we serve.
